This past weekend was a real treat for fans in the Raleigh, NC area — several of the creative minds behind Saturday Wars assembled like the Super Friends for an unforgettable book signing across two Ultimate Comics locations.

Oh, and did we mention it was also opening weekend for Supaman?

Fans got to meet the powerhouse trio of Sweet Tooth Eddy, Whyt Manga, and Frederick L. Jones, who came together to sign books, chat with fans, and give away some awesome swag — including bookmarks, trading cards, and exclusive prints with every book purchase.

Here’s what the team had to say about their experience at Ultimate Comics and their journey working on Saturday Wars:

“North Carolina readers were great and very welcoming! It was a pleasure to sign the books of new readers as well as those who brought their copies to the event.”
– Whyt Manga

“Whatup whatup! Hope you all enjoy Saturday Wars. Sheesh, what a trip! One minute I’m chillin’, the next I’m drawing all of Saturday AM’s biggest characters in a multiverse crossover! It was a blast to hop in — especially getting to use my new 3D skills to speed things up.

I do wish we had more time, but deadlines are deadlines. It was actually lowkey fun to push myself and still keep the quality high. Learned a lot. From reading Garfield comics as a kid to becoming a published manga artist — wild!

Artists out there: don’t wait too long thinking you’ve gotta be perfect. Get on the grind and grow along the way. Oh — and save your files! Backup everything! Take care of your body too. Happy body, happy mind, more productivity.

Aight, I’m out. Peace!!”
– Sweet Tooth Eddy

Check out some highlights from the book signings below!

A huge thank you to Ultimate Comics for hosting this epic signing weekend. Be sure to keep an eye out for future events, and don’t forget to check out Saturday Wars, Apple Black, and Making Manga the Saturday AM Way!

It’s that glorious time of year again—convention and expo season! A time when fans gather to celebrate their shared love of anime, gaming, comics, and all things pop culture.

And you better believe we at Saturday AM are loving every minute of it!

Recently, the one and only Oscar Fong, the incredible artist behind MMWOG, made an appearance at Armageddon Expo 2025—and he’s still raving about it.

What Is Armageddon Expo?

Held annually in New Zealand, Armageddon Expo is the country’s biggest science fiction and entertainment convention. The event showcases iconic names from the world of comics, movies, animation, television, and gaming, along with the latest in collectibles, cosplay, merch, and fan-created art.

It’s a haven for geeks, gamers, and comic lovers—and Oscar got to experience it up close!

Oscar Fong’s Armageddon Experience

Oscar had a front-row seat at the expo and even got to setup at a table with the awesome NZ Comic Creators. He spent the day connecting with passionate fans, signing art, and talking all things MMWOG. Here’s what he had to say about the experience:

“I had a great time at Winter Armageddon Expo and grateful for the comic creator for having me for the day. Meeting new comic fans and introducing the MMWOG series to them is always a blast! And big thanks to memoh.comics (creator of Dominion) who was in charge of the table and for being a cool comic pal!”

We love seeing our creators out there representing Saturday AM and sharing their work with fans around the globe.

Fresh off the release of Hammer Vol. 5, come meet Jeyodin in person TOMORROW at Barnes & Noble! Jey will be signing copies and meeting fans, so don’t miss your chance!

This is the first stop in our Black History Month Meet the Creators Tour—we can’t wait to see you there!

About Hammer Vol. 5

In Hammer, Volume 5, while uncovering clues to his father’s current location, Stud struggles against the Bird Kingdom, a prejudiced society where open-beaked birds with human faces are mocked and called “de feathered” by closed-beaked birds (who refer to themselves as “true birds”).

Kamaal, an open-beaked bird, decides to help Stud get another kingdom map so he can potentially get home. Unfortunately, in the heart of the Bird Kingdom, where the new map is, the law strictly prohibits human-faced birds and humans from roaming around freely. When King Crow catches Kamaal and Stud, they are sentenced to death. Stud’s going to need all of his power to stand up for what’s right and take down a segregated society—and survive his death sentence.

Can’t Make It to the Signing? No worries! You can still grab your copy of Hammer Vol. 5 from all major retailers today.

Order now and continue Stud’s epic journey!

I’m going to get that Ultra Rare! This is a phrase any true card collector has said at least once in their lives. Cards are the precursor to modern-day gacha games, and whether you play Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon, or Magic: The Gathering, we all understand that feeling of cracking open a card pack, eager with anticipation of what you might find. It’s a great feeling, and there’s no better place to indulge in this excitement than Bandai Card Games Fest!

This annual event is where Bandai shows off their various card games, including the One Piece Card Game, Dragon Ball Super Card Game, Digimon TCG, and others. It’s also a hot spot for collectibles, figurines, and models!

THAT’S NOT ALL! Expect tournaments, live demonstrations, and plenty of other activities for fans to dive into during this incredible show. Whether you’re a seasoned player, just getting started, or just there just to collect there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Saturday AM Joins the Festivities

We told you Saturday AM would be popping up all over. Our editor, Austin Harvey-Younis, had the pleasure of exploring this event in Orlando—hunting for some collectibles and cards himself. He had this to say about Bandai Card Games Fest:

“From games to toys to anime, this place is the place to be! Had a wonderful time in Orlando this year at Bandai Card Fest! Met amazing people, had great fun and nearly spent all my money along the way!”

With excitement building around the recent announcement of the official Saturday AM CCG, fans can’t wait to see it featured at a con just like this!

And we’re back at Animate Religh, ready to have a blast! This year, the dream team showed up with Morganne Walker, JR De Bard, and Frederick L. Jones. They had an amazing time connecting with fans, showing off their manga, and exploring the convention floor.

Animate, the convention powered by GalaxyCon, is the ultimate destination for fans of anime, video games, animation, cosplay, and everything in between. We were thrilled to be invited back for a second time, and just like last year, we had an amazing time!

This is what the creators had to say about their time at the con!

“Animate Raleigh was a blast! With all the new books, Saturday Wars, and the trading cards coming soon, it was great to see how hyped everyone was for Saturday AM and I had so much fun getting to share that at our table! As always, signing books and prints with my colleagues is such a cool and rewarding experience, and I can’t wait for next time!”

New York Comic Con weekend was nothing short of epic – fans and comic book nerds packed the place, all sharing love for their favorite creators and properties. Naturally, we couldn’t miss out on the fun! This year, we had Frederick L. Jones and Whyt Manga, the masterminds behind mega hits Clock Striker and Apple Black respectively, joining the con.

Frederick kicked things off early, mingling with fellow publishers like Viz, Marvel, and DC (just to name a few). He even got the chance to meet some of the artists behind DC’s newly released Absolute Universe comic run!

He had a blast exploring the event, and checking out the impressive booths and displays. Of course, we had our own table, spreading the word about our Saturday AM titles with the help of Anita Castellar from FanGirl Consulting & Brand Management.

Whyt, on the other hand, played a double role this year. Not only did he show up for Saturday AM but he teamed up with the talented crew from Sandstorm Comics over in Artist Alley, where they met fans, did some character sketches, and handed out free samples of their awesome comics!

Frederick and Whyt had different missions this time, but they did finally get to meet up and came together for their panel, The Art of Leveling Up: Designing Power Systems in Comics, Manga, and Anime, alongside unOrdinary creator uru-chan and Just a Goblin’s Brandon Chen.

This is what they had to say about their experience at the show:

“NYCC 24 was amazing, best time in New York so far! Meeting friends, fans and peers was fun and productive. I was also a part of the Sandstorm booth at artist alley and the environment was spectacular.”

– Whyt Manga

“As has been the case all of 2024, this year’s New York Comic Con has proved that Saturday AM is the one of the most exciting and consistent brands in manga globally. Our partners consist of some of the biggest companies in comics and tech and our fans have shown up in such numbers that they have to acknowledge that what Saturday AM lacks in funding — we more than make up for in sales and enthusiasm. There are BIG THINGS coming and the meetings that I had this week show that our momentum is only growing faster. Stay tuned!”

-Frederick L. Jones

All in all, it was an unforgettable event, and I know the guys can’t wait to be back next year. Check out the photos from NYCC24 below! And don’t forget to drop a comment if you attended—let us know what your favorite part was!
