Many fans were concerned about the show due to doubts that Disney would do it justice, especially after Daredevil’s brief cameo appearance in the She-Hulk series. However, this trailer seems to have put much of that doubt to rest, showcasing intense, brutal fights, gore, and action reminiscent of its predecessor. With Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead—who previously worked on Disney Plus shows like Moon Knight and Loki—as lead directors, and Dario Scardapane, former producer of the Netflix Punisher series, as showrunner, the show seems to have a winning formula for success – fingers crossed!

The series is set to premiere on Disney Plus on March 4th, so fans won’t have to wait long for its release.

Now that the main series has ended fans have been fending for more super hero adventures in the MHA universe.  Look no further than My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. This ground level adventure is coming April of 2025!

Fans Have been waiting patiently for any news about the follow up to Chainsaw Man season 1.  Here’s an exciting look at the next arc! Following the trend of other anime’s like Demon Slayer with a theatrical release.

Dan Da Dan Season 2 Official announcement

Right on the heels of the season 1 finale, fans didn’t have to wait long to find out when the series would be returning.  To little surprise a season 2 is confirmed to be in production and we aren’t in for an excessive delay.  Season 2 is slated to release July 2025.

One Piece Anime return and possible future movie!?

The anime is coming back April of 2025 in all its glory.  The trailer teases some epic fights and some key visuals from the coming season.

Solo Leveling Season 2 reveal trailer

Solo Leveling had the fandom in a chock hold at the beginning of the year. Ever since learning it was getting an indefinite season 2 fans have been waiting to see what’s in store.

Kaiju no. 8 theatrical special: Hoshina’s Day Off

Kaiju no. 8, another heavy hitter from earlier this year, is still slated to drop a season 2 on July 2025 but we have an added treat as well in the works.  A complication film of season 1 and what we expect some additional footage as well coming to a theater near you!

Hell’s Paradise Season 2 Confirmed!

Gabimaru and the others are still on the hunt for the elixir of life and left us on quite a cliff hanger at the end of season 1.  Fans have to wait a while longer for the next epic part to the story.  Season 2 slated for January 2026

My Hero Academia Final Season

Although we didn’t get a new trailer for the final season of my hero academia one thing we did get was an update on the primers of this epic conclusion.  It is now slated for the fall anime season of 2025 – I’d imagine some time in September or October if I were to guess.

Dragon Ball Super Oneshot

Although it isn’t what fans were expecting to hear we did get news that a brand new one shot focusing around Trunks and Goten is scheduled to release in February 2025.  No official word on the main series returning from hiatus but this will still tied us over in the meantime.

Some major things are cooking this coming year, and beyond, to get excited about in anime and manga – and we can’t wait to soak it all up!  Honestly the reveals I mentioned here weren’t even everything that was announced!  We really will be eating this year.

Horikoshi drew his favorite Marvel hero, Spider-Man, alongside his MHA characters, while Marvel artists Humberto Ramos and Edgar Delgado returned the favor with a stunning illustration of MHA heroines chasing after the villain Black Cat.

An Appreciation for Western Comics

This collaboration feels like a full-circle moment for Horikoshi, who has often spoken about how much American comics have influenced his work. You can see his love for Western superheroes reflected in My Hero Academia—from quirks inspired by classic powers to Volume 9’s cover, which directly references Ultimate Spider-Man: Venom.

In a recent interview with Marvel, Horikoshi shared just how much Spider-Man shaped his creative journey.

“It was Spider-Man who I first met as a child. And it still is Spider-Man for me today.”

“I’ve always wondered what it means to be a hero, especially when I was writing My Hero Academia. At some point, I finally came to the conclusion that being a hero means being a strong part of a community, helping a friendly neighborhood. That’s why I respect Spider-Man so much.”

What’s Next for Horikoshi?

Now that MHA has wrapped up, Horikoshi has already expressed excitement about diving into his next series. During the same interview, he revealed his plans:

“I was thinking of committing myself to simply drawing my next project and letting someone else write the story, but my editor advised me, ‘It will be better if you do it all yourself.’ With that in mind, I’ve slowly started writing and drawing the thumbnails of my next manga. However, there are still several events left surrounding MHA, so for a while, I’ll still be committed to supporting and promoting it.”

It’s clear Horikoshi is eager to keep creating, but he’ll likely take a well-deserved break before fully launching into his next project. I think we can all agree that we’d love to see more striking artwork coming from him!

Could Horikoshi Tackle a Marvel Manga?

With Marvel and Viz already collaborating on manga featuring superheroes drawn by Japanese mangakas like Yusuke Murata and Tsutomu Nihei, it’s exciting to imagine Horikoshi joining in. His unique style and storytelling would be a perfect fit for a Marvel manga.

Now, the customization here might not be on the level of, say, Dragon’s Dogma 2, but Dragon Age: The Veilguard definitely doesn’t skimp on representation. For too long, BIPOC players have had a narrow selection of hairstyles in games—maybe a fade, some locs, or a fro if we’re lucky. But no more! This game delivers with a whole range of options, even featuring the infamous Killmonger hairstyle—for better or worse, haha. Representation Done Right

Did you see those laid edges!? They’re not playing with this one! All jokes aside, it’s refreshing to see developers not only taking notice but genuinely incorporating diversity in ways that feel authentic, not pandering. Dragon Age: The Veilguard gives players the freedom to represent themselves in a world that’s as immersive as it is impressive. We at Saturday AM have to give BioWare their flowers for this much-needed update to customization.

With Dragon Ball celebrating its 40th anniversary, this series holds extra significance as it’s the final project Akira Toriyama worked on before his passing. With a release date of this October, no wonder the excitement is through the roof!

What’s the Story?

It’s not crystal clear where it fits within the Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super timelines, but some hints suggest it might pick up after the Buu saga.

One of the big mysteries? The chibification of our favorite characters! We don’t yet know what caused the main cast to become mini versions of themselves.  What we do know is the story will introduce us to a brand new setting: the Demon Realm. Alongside some familiar faces, we’ll also meet new characters, that will come along on this new adventure.

Fan Concerns?

There’s a bit of hesitation among fans, especially since the new series revisits a plot point that wasn’t so well-received in Dragon Ball GT—the de-aging of the heroes. However, since this is the last series Toriyama had a hand in, it may end up being more meaningful than expected.

Personally? I’m all in. This feels like an epic side quest, packed with fun, action, and adventure. The animation looks incredible, and I’m ready for the ride!

“Deadpool & Wolverine” is the third installment in the Deadpool franchise and marks the wrapping up of the Fox universe in favor of the MCU. The story picks up after the events of “Deadpool 2” (SPOILER WARNING for those who haven’t watched it yet). After stealing Cable’s time travel machine, Wade goes back in time to undo all the tragic events that befell him and his friends, like the death of his girlfriend Vanessa. He even hilariously intervenes to prevent the battle between Wolverine and the first big-screen iteration of Deadpool—a resounding “no thank you” from fans of the character.

After making things “right” in his world, Wade is approached by the TVA (Time Variance Authority). Surprisingly, they don’t reprimand him for his recent time travel shenanigans but recruit him to help protect and repair the multiverse. With such a lofty , Deadpool needs help from the one and only Wolverine to get the job done.

With a setup like that, you know there is going to be some entertaining interdimensional hopping like no other. When I say there are some amazing cameos in this film, that is an understatement. There were several times where I said out loud, “What the freak?” (censored for younger audiences) when they revealed a surprise guest star. Some we knew would make an appearance, and others came out of left field. There’s one in particular that was so hilarious and well done… you know what? I won’t say anymore—you’ll know when you see them.

Also, the chemistry between Deadpool and Wolverine was unmatched. Deadpool’s quick wit and Wolverine’s no-nonsense attitude meshed perfectly for some laugh-out-loud moments. It felt like the buddy cop movie we’ve always wanted.

This also can’t be understated—the fights in this movie were fantastic and really well-choreographed, the majority I should say. I mean, take two battle-ready superpowered mutants with unlimited healing factors and let them have at it. It made for some really over-the-top fight scenes—what more could we ask for?

That leads me to my gripes about the film—the story. As balls-to-the-wall and open-ended as the film may have appeared from the surface, it definitely didn’t take many risks with its formulaic approach. An impending world-shattering event with an unlikely hero standing in its way to save his loved ones from certain doom. It makes sense for a superhero movie to work this way, but one of the strengths of the Deadpool movies over the years has been how off-script they feel. Additionally, I can’t say I really felt the weight of the stakes in this movie and even some of the more heartfelt moments fell a bit flat in my opinion.

All in all, the movie was a lot of fun, and for fans of the Fox Marvel properties, this feels like a love letter to the characters we grew up watching in the early 2000s. This movie is exciting, funny, and a great introduction for Deadpool into the MCU. I’d give it a watch!

IDW has released an official description of what to expect in the first issue, as shared with IGN:

“It’s the coolest ninja matchup you could have ever dreamed of, had you dared! The Heroes in a Half-Shell meet the host of the Nine-Tailed Fox in the crossover everyone will be talking about.

When teenage reporter April O’Neil has a clandestine meeting with Tsunade, the leader of the Hidden Leaf Village, it garners the attention of Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi. They aren’t the only ones who are wondering what the two women were discussing, though. The sinister Foot Clan have their own interest in April’s visit, as they think she might hold the valuable information on mutation research being conducted by the scientist Baxter Stockman. With April caught between the forces of the Hidden Leaf Village and the Foot Clan, it can’t be long before the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show up to lend her a hand!

Working with acclaimed manga publisher Viz Entertainment, IDW is pulling together two of the most popular comics in the world to bring you the four-issue comic book event of 2024!

“I’m stoked and humbled to get to work with the coolest talent in comics and manga to introduce the ninja created by my heroes in a massive mutagen and chakra-fueled adventure for fans everywhere,” Goellner tells IGN. “What else can you call it but an honor? Let’s party.”

With so many big names at the show, there were bound to be some exciting announcements. Here is a list of some of the most thrilling news from Anime Expo 2024 – in no particular order.

Bleach: TYBW Part 3

Last year, long-time fans who had been waiting for more than a decade finally got the return of Bleach for its final arc. It’s been amazing to jump back into the world of the Soul Society and see all these familiar and new characters. The new arc is split into four parts, fitting considering its length in the manga. During this year’s Anime Expo, a brand new teaser trailer for Part 3 was revealed. The trailer showcases some iconic Bankai of various characters and teases the final battle between Ichigo and Yhwach. Saturday AM creator Whyt Manga cites Tite Kubo as one of his main inspirations behind his art style in his series APPLE BLACK.

Solo Leveling Season 2 Reveal

Solo Leveling was one of the hottest anime to appear during the winter season this year, not surprising given the hype around this series finally getting an anime adaptation. With the season ending in March, fans were left yearning for more. It was pretty evident that the show would be renewed for a season 2, but little did we know that it would be teased at this year’s show!

Fire Force Returning

Atsushi Ohkubo, creator of Soul Eater, blessed the page again in 2015 with his brand-new series Fire Force. Receiving its own anime adaptation in 2019 to great reviews, the show ran for two seasons with season 2 ending back in 2020. Little was known about a third season, but it was announced that the show had received a green light for season 3. Then, there was radio silence for years. Finally, we got an update, and now we know it’s slated to release next year!

Blue Lock Season 2

With the hype around Blue Lock last year, it was no surprise that it would receive a second season. The high-intensity sports series really scratched that itch for fans of shows like Haikyuu!! and Kuroko’s Basketball. We’ve been patiently waiting for any news surrounding this series. We got a cool teaser trailer revealing that the series will return this October! In the meantime, if you’re looking for a good technical sports manga, check out JR De Bard’s series UNDERGROUND VOL. 1, AVAILABLE NOW!

Logic x Cowboy Bebop Clothing Collab

Not exactly anime news, but an awesome new collab was announced between rapper artist Logic and Crunchyroll to release an apparel line for the anime classic Cowboy Bebop. Logic pulled up to Anime Expo to show off some of the new designs and hang out with all the anime fans, sharing his experience on social media.

The collab features some really awesome designs and illustrations featuring iconic moments from the show. Logic has boasted for a long time about how much he loves anime and geek culture, especially Cowboy Bebop, so it’s really cool to see such a team-up! CHECK OUT THE COLLECTION.
